“We love the personal microphone! It has made a huge impact in my quality of life. I don’t feel left out and am more engaged in activities and life. My main reason for the purchase was to increase interaction with my family and improve my daily life. I felt I was missing out and not connecting with my family at dinner and holiday gatherings, etc. The biggest drawback is my daughter sometimes forgets to wear it, lol. But when she does, it sounds like she’s right behind me - no matter where she is in the house! It was so amazing the first time we used it. We can be at opposite ends of the house, with walls between us, and I can hear her clearly. We use the mic at restaurants, the grocery store, doctor’s office and in the car. I like that my doctors use it to speak to me directly. It helps me feel more independent, connected and included. In the car is most challenging and can hear 50% better than I used to. It all depends on the traffic and car noise but it is way better than not having the mic. I am 90 years old with around 80-90% hearing loss in both ears. I highly recommend the personal microphone. For the first three years, I subscribed to the Lyric, in the ear, hearing aids which were good but limited in effectiveness in restaurants or group settings. In August of 2017, I switched to the Oticon One hearing aids which have proved to be very gratifying in all settings, giving me a greater sense of directional sound and also greater clarity.
