“I am writing this review as a recently retired Registered Nurse, still working part time in my field. As a healthcare provider myself, the most important attribute I have held through my years of service is integrity. I also look for that in those giving care to me. Let me assure you, I have found this at National Hearing & Balance - San Antonio! I was experiencing tinnitus that had gotten much more noticeable in the past 3 months or so. I was looking for someone that would understand my issue, and I found this office online and I read the reviews. I took a chance, booked my appointment and was treated with respect, kindness and received compassionate care throughout the whole process. I didn't have to wait long for my first appointment which was the hearing test with Dr. Le. To my surprise I have severe hearing loss, causing the horrendous tinnitus! Dr. Le explained everything so well, so much in detail, I walked away knowing exactly what my issue was. The next appointment was the consult and after that, I knew what I wanted to do, I needed to move forward. Honestly, the financial part was a bit hard for me to make a decision to move ahead, but let me tell you, it was the best decision I have made in a very long time! Once I received my hearing aids I felt so well versed in what was causing the tinnitus (the hearing loss) I was more than willing to wear them every day. I promise, you will not leave that office not knowing everything you need to know. Dr. Le explains everything in such detail, she lets you ask questions as long as you keep shooting them at her! When I left the office with my new 'ears' in, I heard sounds I haven't heard in years! The best part, once you receive your aids you don't just leave and wave goodbye, Dr. Le slowly increases you to your prescription level. (during a couple more visits as you're getting used to them) She takes time, makes sure you're able to handle the increase and works with you like you are her only patient! I am now at my prescription level, they work with my iPhone, and I can now talk to people on the phone, and hear them, better than I have in a very long time! The tinnitus is totally unnoticeable when I have my aids in and that alone is worth it! The tinnitus isn't cured, but the aids make up for the loss where it is not there when my hearing aids are in. I could go on and on, I'm not one to usually write a review, but I had to let others know my experience as that is what helped me decide to go with this agency. I have referred a friend looking for help with her hearing, that's how much I believe in this group! Thank you, Dr. Le, Tammy and Lisa! A very grateful patient! (I literally cried tears of gratefulness when I left the office with my new aids)”
“In a world where there's no shortage of facilities to sell hearing aids to you, National Hearing & Balance is my top & only choice to obtain them. Prior to making the appointment I was skeptical about hearing aids in general whether it be the high cost, the stigma that is often associated with them, time, etc. At the urging of my daughter I finally (although reluctantly) scheduled an appointment for a hearing evaluation for a baseline. To my dismay Dr. Le discovered a hearing loss in each ear and subsequently prescribed hearing aids (two them!). After this appointment the consultation was next. After a full hour with Dr. Le we've determined the type of aids best suited for my type of loss, lifestyle, communication needs, etc. She went over her six week process of fitting them. The what/how/why was explained to the tee. Who knew that fitting a hearing aid takes six weeks and the engineering end is so time-consuming! Here's the kicker when we went over cost she was very transparent with my daughter & I explaining to proceed with my insurance "HA benefit" or to proceed privately. Should be an easier decision, right? INSURANCE. No, not really. She explained the "discount" program to us if we would have chosen to proceed with my insurance vs choosing to waive it to proceed privately pay. There are pros and cons to each. The insurance although gave me an upfront discount, I wouldn't get to see NHB/her & her staff. She was very transparent that in order for her to take the time to get the aids programmed and follow up with me appropriately she would rather lose me as a patient then be rushed to see me based on what my insurance contractual agreement. My daughter and I debated and at the end of the day chose to waive our insurance to see her. Like I said Costco is an easier & quite honestly much less expensive option, but in the end, I would much prefer to let her decide what it is that I need vs letting my insurance dictate who my provider should be, level of care, type of aid, etc. They didn't spend over two hours with me and my daughter to know me but Dr. Le did. So in this case cheaper is not always better. No, not when it comes to hearing loss & my quality of life. Choose your audiologist & clinic wisely! ”
“I am so grateful to Dr Le and her staff, Tammy and Lisa for being so amazing with the treatment they have provided to my mother. After a bad experience with a different doctor and hearing facility my mother refused to go back or go to any doctor for her hearing aids and left her hearing to deteriorate for another four years. Finally realizing that her hearing was also causing other health concerns my mother allowed her doctor to send her to be seen by Dr Le for hearing aids and other testing. I was blown away by the care and manner in which they handled my mother’s concerns. I was excited to see that my mom was thriving after getting her hearing aids and back to being her outgoing self again. She is now more involved in family gatherings. She also gets excited to have her visits with Dr. Le and tell her how Dr Le has made her quality of life better. I am so happy to recommend Dr Le and her staff to anyone that needs hearing aids or for any hearing concerns. Thank you Dr Le and staff for handling your patients with such professionalism and care! You are all top notch!”
“I was experiencing hearing loss in my right ear. I asked my doctor for a recommendation for new hearing aids and he recommended Dr Le at National Hearing and Balance Center in Hondo. My first appointment, I was greeted by Tammy at the front desk, who reviewed a few things with me to gain a deeper understanding of my issues. Dr Le immediately put me at ease and asked more questions about my daily life, as well as what I hoped to gain through new hearing aids. I had my hearing tested and the level of hearing loss determined. During my second visit, Dr Le went over my test results and further discussed my lifestyle to determine the best choice of aids for me. Once I made a decision of which aids I wanted, we began the process of making molds for my ears. Once the aids were ready, and I wore them for the first time, I was surprised how comfortable they felt. With complete loss in one ear , I was concerned my hearing would never be properly addressed. I was wrong, clearly wrong. I was hearing in every setting....from noisy rooms to very soft spoken conversations. I had given up on listening to the radio, and only watched TV with closed captions. My world opened up again as I turned the radio on, and stopped at a restaurant to have lunch. Ordered without pointing at the pictures!!! On my next visit, I met with Lisa the audiology assistant, who programmed my phone so I could use it to check batteries and adjust sound levels. Lisa was so helpful in going over the care of my hearing aids and how to properly charge them. Dr Le set up my phone so I could answer it directly from the hearing aid, which gave me the clearest phone conversation ive had in decades. The follow up care is so thorough, they don't sell you hearing aids and send you on your way. Dr Le and her staff make sure you know how to get the most out of your aids and how to properly care for them so they last. Each step of the way, you're guided forward towards a more fulfilled life. One in which you can confidently have conversations in any settings. I am so happy with my new hearing aids, and eager to get out more and hear more. Thank you, Dr Le!”
“When I first came to National Hearing and Balance, I was having a terrible time with my loss of hearing that was primarily a result of my military service on Air Force flightlines! Dr Le is a great professional who takes sincere interest in the in the outcome of her patients visit and being attentive to every detail. When I came in and got tested, we ordered my hearing aids and then came in 2 weeks later to have them set for my prescription, I was amazed at what I have been missing in my hearing! I am hearing sounds I have not heard since I was a teenager! Dr Le has greatly enhanced my quality of life with her work with me! I am grateful to have been able to have her as my audiologist! Life is truly better for me now. My wife no longer complains because I have the volume too high on the tv or my radio, I can hear people without looking at them now, and dince I do a lot of speaking and question/answer sessions, have more self confidence in my interactions! I cant say enough! Yes the hearing aids can be expensive, but to me they are worth every penny spent considering the improvements in my daily quality of life!”
