Bomina Kang is passionate about providing individualized patient-centered care and improving the quality of life of patients through implementing evidence-based intervention and treatment. Her specialty is adult diagnostics, hearing loss solutions, tinnitus management, and aural rehabilitation. Bomina earned her Doctor of Audiology degree from Wichita State University and her Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition and Dietetics at the Metropolitan State University of Denver. She received her Certificate of Clinical Competence through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and holds a license in audiology from the States of Arizona and Colorado. Dr. Bomina Kang was born in South Korea, and her family moved to the United States when she was a child. She grew up in Colorado but recently moved to Arizona with her husband and their daughter. In her free time, Bomina enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

“I’ve had my hearing aids for 2 years. I immediately noticed the improvement of my hearing but my real issue was the tinnitus. Through the program I have been given coping methods which have reduced the amount of time the tinnitus interferes with my daily life. Dr Bomina Kang has been extremely helpful and supportive and has always been prompt with answering all my questions and concerns and follows up timely. Mary is wonderful in working with my schedule of when I’m in Arizona or arranging for supplies and conference calls when I’m out of town. I know people who have paid more for hearing aids at other places and they do not get the one on one service I get at Sound Relief. I highly recommend them them. ”

“Dr. Hanscom thoroughly cleaned my ears which had been a problem for me effecting my hearing. She was gentle and recommended a product and schedule to keep them clear. The examination included a hearing test followed by a thorough explanation of the results. She asked my preferences for new hearing aids and even allowed me to take new aids to try for a week. We then talked about tinnitus asking if I would want to try the offices program. While I was not yet ready to commit to that. The office was very comfortable form the waiting room to her office. I would highly recommend both Dr. Hanscom and the peoria office.”

“I have had tinnitus since high school. At 71 I finally decided enough already. I have had two other hearing exams in the past 10 years, each time I was advised "there was nothing we can do about tinnitus." Dr. Kelly Hanscom was the first person to explain in detail what tinnitus is and how to manage it going forward. The audiology exam was the most thorough I have ever had and her questions really drilled down to understand MY hearing and hearing environments. She was very up front about costs and whether and what solutions were possible. I walked out with a set of hearing aids adjusted to me. A free demo? Unheard of. She said you need to wear them for a week and decide if this is something you want and are ready for. Can't be any more honest than that. ”

“I have been struggling with pulsatile tinnitus for well over a year. An ENT had done all she could and I was told by an otolaryngologist that it was due to my pulmonary hypertension, and I’d just have to learn to cope. I was quite discouraged. I had seen the TV ads for Sound Relief so decided to try them. When we walked in the Peoria office, Mary was welcoming and friendly and we felt immediately at ease. I saw Dr. Bomina and she explained what tinnitus does to your brain and how the TRT system works. She took her time with us, she listened and cared. She explained everything so well. “I came to these folks practically in tears over my out-of-control tinnitus three years ago. Since that time, I've been fitted with hearing aids specifically designed and programmed to help me notice it less. I also received a series of learning materials for me to work on it myself. Finally, I've gotten great care from both the providers--I'm currently working with Dr. Kelly Hanscom---and their support staff. (Shout out to Mary for her outstanding customer service!) There is no cure for tinnitus, but there are mitigation strategies that reduce its presence in your life. My experience at Sound Relief has been vital in that effort.”

Sound Relief Tinnitus & Hearing Center in Peoria provides specialized evaluation and management for tinnitus, sound hypersensitivity, and hearing loss. Dr. Bomina Kang, Au.D., CCC-A, CH-TM, and Dr. Kelly Hanscom, Au.D., CH-TM, lead the location and have extensive experience with sound-sensitive conditions and complex tinnitus presentations. Both audiologists receive direct mentorship from founder Dr. Julie Prutsman, Au.D., CH-TM, a nationally recognized tinnitus specialist with more than 20 years dedicated to tinnitus-focused audiology. As an independent practice, recommendations are based solely on clinical findings and patient needs.

Peoria uses The Sound Relief Method, an evidence-supported tinnitus-management protocol integrating customized sound therapy, Tinnitus Retraining Therapy (TRT) principles, and counseling strategies informed by cognitive-behavioral research.
