Audiologist
Bomina Kang is passionate about providing individualized patient-centered care and improving the quality of life of patients through implementing evidence-based intervention and treatment. Her specialty is adult diagnostics, hearing loss solutions, tinnitus management, and aural rehabilitation. Bomina earned her Doctor of Audiology degree from Wichita State University and her Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition and Dietetics at the Metropolitan State University of Denver. She received her Certificate of Clinical Competence through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and holds a license in audiology from the States of Arizona and Colorado. Dr. Bomina Kang was born in South Korea, and her family moved to the United States when she was a child. She grew up in Colorado but recently moved to Arizona with her husband and their daughter. In her free time, Bomina enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
Kelly Hanscom,
AuD, CH-TM
Audiologist
Originally from Maryland, Kelly Hanscom earned her Bachelor’s of Hearing and Speech Sciences and Doctorate of Audiology (Au.D) from the University of Maryland.
Early in her Audiology career, she had a special interest in traumatic brain injuries, auditory processing disorders, and tinnitus. For the past six years, she has had the privilege of working with active military and Veterans. Her experience as a tinnitus specialist has taught her the importance of treating the whole person, and she looks forward to bringing the same individualized, high-level care to Sound Relief Tinnitus & Hearing Center. Dr. Kelly Hanscom sees patients at the Peoria and Scottsdale offices.
Dr. Hanscom lives in Scottsdale, AZ, with her border collie mix, Norman. She enjoys hiking, skiing, reading, and attending comedy shows in her free time.
Julie Prutsman,

Owner and Founder
As the owner and founder of Sound Relief Hearing Center, Dr. Julie Prutsman has dedicated her practice to treating tinnitus, decreased sound tolerance, and related hearing health issues.
She is a third generation audiologist with her grandfather entering into the field of hearing healthcare in the 1950s. After working in her family’s practice in Colorado and Las Vegas, NV, she decided to open one of her own focused on tinnitus. Since beginning Sound Relief Hearing Center in December 2011, her practice has helped thousands of patients and has grown to nine offices in Colorado and Arizona.
Dr. Julie Prutsman grew up in Highlands Ranch and graduated from Highlands Ranch High School. She attended the University of Colorado – Boulder for graduate school and knew Colorado would always be her home state. Her husband, Patrick, is the General Manager and co-owner of Sound Relief. They have two wonderful children, Ethan and Hanna, and their rescue dog,Tori. In her free time, Dr. Julie loves reading, traveling, skiing, and spending time with family.

“I came to these folks practically in tears over my out-of-control tinnitus three years ago. Since that time, I've been fitted with hearing aids specifically designed and programmed to help me notice it less. I also received a series of learning materials for me to work on it myself. Finally, I've gotten great care from both the providers--I'm currently working with Dr. Kelly Hanscom---and their support staff. (Shout out to Mary for her outstanding customer service!) There is no cure for tinnitus, but there are mitigation strategies that reduce its presence in your life. My experience at Sound Relief has been vital in that effort.”

Sound Relief Tinnitus & Hearing Center offers specialized audiology services, including tinnitus treatment, extensive diagnostic hearing testing, and solutions for decreased sound tolerance.
- Hearing & speech comprehensive testing/evaluation, consists of a series of tests and inspections to assess the overall hearing health of a patient.
- Tinnitus assessment, tinnitus is common and often described as a "ringing, rushing or buzzing sound in the ears". The tinnitus assessment at Sound Relief combines tinnitus-specific tests, a comprehensive audiological evaluation, and tympanometry.
- Hyperacusis assessment, a hearing disorder for patients with a decreased tolerance for everyday noise/sounds at such high levels that it causes irritation, anxiety, or even physical pain.
- Hearing aid evaluation, based on your test results, needs, lifestyle and budget together we will determine which hearing device will best suite you.
- Hearing aid sales, rechargeable, background noise cancellation and Bluetooth streaming capability.
- Custom made and fitted hearing aids, using an earmold impression of the patient's ear.
- Programming of hearing aids with your full prescription.
- Real Ear Measurements (REM), REMs are the gold standard in audiology for verification that the hearing aids are working as they should and providing the intended benefits inside the patient’s ear canal at the eardrum.
- Distortion Product Otoacoustic Emissions (DPOAEs), this test measure frequencies in each ear and the audiologist interprets the results found.
- Removal and management of non-Impacted and impacted Cerumen (earwax).
