Her insurance gave me a list of network providers, some of them located only minutes away from us, but none of them satisfied me as I went down the list and checked out each. These days and age when medical professionals and institutions have lost the art of genuine care and compassionate service, I couldn't believe what these reviews were claiming about Dr. D'Cunha. We decided to give her a try and go see her for the initial consultation, although her practice was located a little farther away from us than other providers. That was one of the BEST decisions we made this decade. Dr. D'Cunha was EVEN MORE kind and patient (and yes, compassionate, understanding and caring, too) IN PERSON. She carefully went over each aspect of Mom's auditory test and evaluation in meticulous detail, helping us understand Mom's condition better. We so appreciated the way she connected with both Mom and me with such respect and genuine care. Yes, she WAS for real. And Dr. D'Cunha was indeed highly professional and knowledgeable as she explained and led us through the technological and cognitive aspects of hearing aids and various options available for Mom. My medical insurance company recommended Performance Hearing Center and suggested the Winnetka clinic. I set up an appointment and met Dr. Beverly D'Cunha. She was very thorough using several tests and clearly explained specific needs those tests showed. She was very patient to technically explain which hearing aids would be best for me and I'm several weeks into the trial period and the new hearing aids are considerably better than my old ones ever were. “Sitting at the same breakfast table I had been using for 20 years. I leaned back a bit, I heard a distinctive “creaking”. I asked my Wife, “where is that ‘creaking’ coming from”? She told me, “that’s been there for years, you just haven’t heard it”! I hear it now because of a new hearing aid that I had gotten the day before! This hearing aid is kind of incredible! It is quite “High Tech” and lets me hear things that I didn’t realize I had been missing. Beverly tested me last October and found one ear with very poor hearing ability, while the other ear was almost 100%. She didn’t feel comfortable fitting me with hearing aids until I had an MRI to determine whether or not there was any possibility of repairing the bad ear. So she sent me to an ENT Doctor who was able to recommend an MRI be performed. The final determination was made that there was nothing that could be done to make the “bad” ear normal again so with the “ethical” issue resolved, Beverly fitted me with a hearing aid for the “better ear”. There is a possibility we can do a “crossover” at a later time, which is where a receiver/transmitter that looks just like a simple hearing aid, will be fitted for the bad ear and send any sounds that register on the “bad ear” side, transmits the sound to the “good ear” via Bluetooth . . . so I don’t miss anything! Beverly also did some magic and connected my hearing aid to my cell phone via Bluetooth and I no longer have to hold the phone up to my head to hear the caller! The caller’s voice is transmitted to my hearing aid! Perfect! And I get to choose whether or not to use that setting! Beverly told me that she could set it up so that my TV sound could also be transmitted directly to my hearing aid (depending on Bluetooth availability)! Ain’t technology great? I forgot to ask her for the details, but I’ll see her soon! Highly recommend her! She is the only one I have spoken with about enhanced hearing, who makes perfect sense. ”
