Dr. Hannah Vollinger graduated with her Doctorate in Audiology from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2010 and then went on to pursue a Masters of Business Administration from Fitchburg State University in 2019. She completed her Clinical Externship at UCLA Audiology Clinic and then went on to work at Connecticut Children's Medical Center as a staff audiologist from 2010-2017. Dr. Vollinger was working at a busy ENT practice from 2017-2021, when she decided to join out team in the Wethersfield office. Hannah is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and the Academy of Doctors of Audiology.
Caren Barone, AuD, CCC-A
Audiologist
Dr. Caren Barone is a licensed audiologist who earned a Master's degree from Southern Connecticut State University in 2005 and a Doctorate in Audiology from the University of Florida in 2008. Dr. Barone is experienced in several clinical settings and holds a certificate of clinical competence in audiology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is a member of the Connecticut Academy of Audiology.
Shannon O'Rourke, AuD, CCC-A
Audiologist
Dr. O’Rourke attended the University of Connecticut graduating with her Bachelor’s in speech, language, and hearing science in 2017 and her Doctorate of Audiology in 2021. She completed her clinical externship at the Yale Hearing and Balance Center within the Yale Medicine Department of Otolaryngology, where she gained valuable experience in diagnostic testing of hearing and balance, as well as working with cochlear implants and hearing aids. After completing her externship, she worked at Cape Cod Hearing Center in Hyannis, MA and True North Hearing, in Torrington, CT. Shannon is a member of the American Academy of Audiology and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech and Hearing Association.
Alan Dumaine, MA, , CCC-A
Retired Audiologist
Alan earned his Master's Degree in Audiology from the University of Connecticut, and served his Clinical Fellowship Year at the San Francisco Hearing and Speech Center. He was a staff audiologist at the Hampden Hearing Center in West Springfield, Massachusetts from 1982-83 before initiating his private practice, the Wethersfield Hearing Center, in January 1984. Alan merged his practice with the Hearing Improvement Center of West Hartford in 1997.

“I showed up a few minutes early for my appointment only to be told that I didn’t have an appointment as I had cancelled. I showed her the text messages on my iPhone that listed my reminders and my confirmations for this appointment. She said since I had cancelled someone else was booked in this time slot. I replied that it was fine, I would go to another audiologist/hearing center for my hearing needs. She said no, she would work something out. She had me go into the office, checked my hearing aids, increased the hearing volume slightly, then rescheduled another appointment for December. This “visit” too k less than 10 minutes. She then said this my last “free” visit and I would be charged for the next one. I feel like what will be done in December should have been done in this visit if my appointment hadn’t been screwed up and she had more time. (The patient who was scheduled in my appointment was sitting in the waiting room). So I can’t say this was a good visit. ”

“I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Hannah Vollinger at the Hearing Improvement Center in Wethersfield, CT. From the moment I sat down at her desk, it was clear that her primary concern was finding the proper solution for my serious hearing loss issue.
Unlike other hearing centers I have been to, Dr. Vollinger discussed options to correct my hearing (should they be needed), but then proceeded to suggest less drastic (and less expensive) options as a starting point to see if we can still use the hearing aids I already have.
It would have been easy for Dr. Vollinger to just tell me I need to buy new hearing aids but that is not who she is. Her first concern is to find the best solution for her patients.
She is a true professional and a credit to her craft. I highly recommend Dr. Vollinger and the Hearing Improvement Center in Wethersfied, CT.”
