“Shelby Platia is the kindest, more professional, most thorough audiologist in my (albeit limited) experience. She took the time to explain everything in detail to me, and seemed genuinely committed to my peace of mind. After my first visit, The Center for Hearing and Communication seems to be exactly where I want to be. ”
“I made an early appointment with the receptionist she was nice and knowledgeable of what was need for their records. My wait was less than 5 minutes before the Audiologist called me in to begin my hearing test. She was very thorough and with every test she explained everything. She explained why the test and what to expect. Those explanations put me at ease. As someone who is a Senior everything needs to be explained so that we can make a wise move. Thank you, center for hearing and communication for a good experience.”
“LEAGUE FOR HARD OF HEARING now CENTER FOR COMMINICATION AND HEARING is where my husband and I went for excellent hearing g advice, care, up to date hearing aids, and helpful knowledge about hearing. He was surprised and positive as was I. Now some thirteen years later, no longer living in NY, I visited from another state to test my own hearing. It remains excellent! When we went we saw babies, youn and old, people from all walks of live and multiple cultures; upscale suited business people, t-shirt people, joggers, all kinds of us humans! It is for everybody. This time near lunch hour, the waiting room was not full. Who’s happy about getting aids. Well, I am not thrilled to be losing hearing but was thrilled to know I can do something about it. I got great advice from a kind and experienced audiologist who is sending me for more tests based on my exam. She is thorough and I feel the next steps on this journey are in the best hands . I highly recommend this place. I think the data will show they likely see more people per year than any facility. They have seen most everything, and expertise and kindness have not changed over these last thirteen years. ”

“CHC is "platform neutral." The audiologists have no particular hearing devices or manufacturers that they favor; the ones they "favor" are the ones that work best for the individual patient's particular hearing loss. The audiologists are all highly skilled and professional and their testing equipment is state of the art. I have been a CHC patient since it was called the League for the Hard of Hearing--and that's a long time. They treat patients of all ages from Toddlers to the Elderly and with all sorts of hearing loss. I unreservedly recommend the Center and its staff.”

- Hearing aid technology available includes, background noise reduction, enhance speech sound, Bluetooth technology to pair or connect wireless to a smartphone, tablet, or TV and more.
- FM systems evaluation
- Auditory processing disorder evaluations (CAPD testing)
- Tinnitus (described as a ringing in the ears by most) retraining therapy and hyperacusis relief
- Auditory evoked potential testing
- State-of-the-art Listening Studio (hearing aids programming) is a resource that helps audiologists fine-tune hearing aid settings
