Professional Speech and Hearing Specialists are the first group I have been with who have helped me to finally hear things I haven’t heard in over 40 years. They are so knowledgeable about their products, caring, and helpful. I was with Dr. Lindsey today and she taught me some things I was struggling to do! I will never go back to a hearing specialist because I actually knew more about how the hearing aids worked than they knew. Before that (30 years ago), I was turned off by audiologists because they only did a hearing test and ordered the hearing aids. Then, when I had a problem, they never had any answers, but sent them back to the factory usually costing around $300 unless they were still under warranty. The problem usually wasn’t solved! This is the first time I have come across audiologists who understood the workings of the hearings aids. “My experience began with obtaining an appointment through the very efficient and personable receptionist, Dawn. The necessary paperwork was emailed prior to the appointment and effortlessly completed. Dr. Lagalante interviewed me re: my history and hearing concerns. I related that I can hear well in all situations except for TV and in noisy environments. It’s a clarity issue: it is very frustrating to hear but “miss out”. From there, I entered the sound proof booth for the hearing evaluation with the addition of speech in noise testing and assessments of my comfortable and uncomfortable listening levels. Dr. Lindsey then provided a complete explanation of my results and how they impact my hearing, particularly in noisy situations. I opted to be fitted with discreet hearing aids, fitted with Oticon ”Real” devices using technology that assisted in the meeting and verification of my prescriptive needs. Dr. Lindsey worked diligently to achieve the result she was very satisfied with and I was delighted. Loudness hadn’t changed, but clarity was so good and natural. I left with guarded optimism, to be honest. My experience out of the office, in the car, at home, and in group conversations continues to be pretty amazing. Natural, comfortable and CLEAR! “My husband and I selected Professional Speech & Hearing through an internet search. We were not referred by anyone. We have lived in Inverness less than two years. We made the trip to Ocala (the drive took nearly an hour) hoping we wouldn't be disappointed and we were not. We were greeted by Receptionist, Dawn, who was very welcoming. We were seen by Dr. Kathryn Rehse who was also welcoming, kind, clear in instructions regarding testing, and professional in interactions. It was nice to go in as a couple and to be counseled regarding our hearing as a couple (as we all know hearing limitations affect not only the client but his/her spouse/family/friends). There was no pressure to purchase hearing aids. We will consider this option. We have up to six months to make the decision using the same testing. We plan to decide within the week.
