“I decided to have my hearing tested after reading so many articles about dementia being related to hearing loss. I knew my hearing was suffering when I continued to ask "what" during conversations. I made the appointment to see Dr. Biondi. Sure enough I did have a hearing loss and both ears were equally affected. When Dr. Biondi finished with the computerized test and fit me with the hearing aids that were, by the way, barely noticeable and were not the ear plugs ( which I definitely didn't want) I noticed such an immediate improvement. the sound was so much crisper. The computer gives three levels and I wanted to keep with the first level. Dr. Biondi explained that the third level was where I should be, but he didn't push it. He agreed that I should stay within my comfort zone and he would give it a week or so and then asked me to come back to see him . Needless to say, he was right. When I went back, I asked to go to the third level. What a difference that made. At work, I immediately noticed I was hearing things I thought I was just tuning out. My co-workers even noticed the difference in me. Having my new "ears" are truly life changing. No more do I tilt my head to the side trying to hear what someone is saying. No more do I ask "say again". My husband told me I no longer talk loud on the phone. Of course, I denied that one. If you think you need a hearing aid, get it checked. It is so worth it!”
