Audiologist
Dr. Abby McMahon is a licensed audiologist helping patients in our Fort Collins office location. She earned her Doctorate in audiology from Northern University in Boston. Dr. McMahon holds a certificate of clinical competence in audiology from the American Speech Language Hearing Association and is a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology. She served on several audiology boards including the Colorado Academy of Audiology as President. She is knowledgeable in the latest technology in hearing aids and devices so she can help you choose the best solution for your hearing needs.
Tony Kovacs,
AuD, CH-TM
Audiologist
Originally from Chicago, Tony moved to Colorado in 2012 to pursue his Doctorate after many years of touring as the lead vocalist in his punk rock band Shot Baker. He was recently featured in a story by NPR which highlighted his hearing conservation work with musicians. Click here for more information.
In addition to playing music and helping folks with their hearing healthcare needs, Tony enjoys hiking, paddle boarding, and camping with his wife, Lisa, and their chocolate lab, Bodhi.
Kelsey Harris,

Audiologist
Kelsey began her journey at Sound Relief in Fort Collins as a Patient Care Coordinator and has since achieved her doctorate in audiology from the University of Northern Colorado. Now an audiologist, she continues to support her patients and colleagues with dedication and care.
Originally from the Chicago area, Kelsey has a deep passion for helping others and loves spending time with her large family, which includes 10 siblings and 11 nieces and nephews. An avid dog lover, she volunteers and fosters for local shelters, alongside her own dog, Roux. When she’s not with patients or family, you can find her outdoors, enjoying activities like hiking, backpacking, camping, and kayaking.
Julie Prutsman,

Julie Prutsman, owner and founder of Sound Relief Hearing Center, is a third-generation audiology professional. Her family entered the field of hearing health care in the 1950s. Julie earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from Marietta College (1996), her master’s degree in speech, language, and hearing sciences from the University of Colorado (1999), and her doctoral degree in audiology from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry’s School of Audiology (2003). Dr. Prutsman is a member of the Academy of Doctors of Audiology, American Academy of Audiology, Colorado Academy of Audiology, and American Tinnitus Association.
Julie grew up in Highlands Ranch and graduated from Highlands Ranch High School.

Sound Relief Tinnitus & Hearing Center offers specialized audiology services, including tinnitus treatment, extensive diagnostic hearing testing, and solutions for decreased sound tolerance.
- Hearing & speech comprehensive testing/evaluation, consists of a series of tests and inspections to assess the overall hearing health of a patient.
- Tinnitus assessment, tinnitus is common and often described as a "ringing, rushing or buzzing sound in the ears". The tinnitus assessment at Sound Relief combines tinnitus-specific tests, a comprehensive audiological evaluation, and tympanometry.
- Hyperacusis assessment, a hearing disorder for patients with a decreased tolerance for everyday noise/sounds at such high levels that it causes irritation, anxiety, or even physical pain.
- Hearing aid evaluation, based on your test results, needs, lifestyle and budget together we will determine which hearing device will best suite you.
- Hearing aid sales, rechargeable, background noise cancellation and Bluetooth streaming capability.
- Custom made and fitted hearing aids, using an earmold impression of the patient's ear.
- Programming of hearing aids with your full prescription.
- Real Ear Measurements (REM), REMs are the gold standard in audiology for verification that the hearing aids are working as they should and providing the intended benefits inside the patient’s ear canal at the eardrum.
- Distortion Product Otoacoustic Emissions (DPOAEs), this test measure frequencies in each ear and the audiologist interprets the results found.
- Removal and management of non-Impacted and impacted Cerumen (earwax).
